Hi,

HG have these boots in their sales down to £129, anyone use these as a touring boot?

I do not intend to use as a serious off road boot (they are way to pretty!)

Thanks in advance

My wife has Vectors (I chose the Tech 3 as I am used to propper MX boots).

Vectors are very good IMO. Take a bit of getting used to as they are less flexible than a road boot ( but more flexible than an MX boot), but they offer better protection.Great for green lane stuff.
Well made and very cheap at that price. Alternative would be the Tech3 @ around £130 but may take a bit more getting used to.

I looked closely at the A/stars (Vector, Tech 3, Tech 8 & Tech 10's) to replace my well-used Tech 5's & discounted all of them for green laning. The new style soles looked little more than useless in mud & that's when you need some grip to pull yer bike out of a bog. I thought it'd be a tad embarrassing to find myself on my arse with the bike on top of me...

I also had a long look at trials boots but they lacked the level of protection I was after, so I ended up with a pair of Diadora MX5's. They're not perfect, but the sole has a lot more grip than most & the price was £140.

I'm glad it's not just me. I was astonished at the lack of tread and imagined falling on my arse at the petrol station, let alone trying to extract the bike from quicksand!

I was told Vector have that smooth sole because it is for something specific(can't remember what .. as it's all scottish to me). If you want a boot that has grippy soles then it is another model in the range.

so which is the ideal boot then, want the MX look, chunky sole with good grip :nenau (I'm in the market for some summer boots)

Sidi Trials boots .. they are in brown too .. which makes them look cooler than the standard black.

tech 10's no substitute:thumb

If ya've got skinny feckin feet maybe :spitfire:spitfire:spitfire

I got :spitfiretype approval from Mrs Flip for the bogs b'llox Tech 10's, after 20 minutes trying to squeeze my fat fookin feet into em I gave up.

Tech 3's are far easier to get on and off (if ya'r a fatty).

I mean the following statement in the nicest possible way ...

With a SWMBO that is as :eyebrow as your missus ... I don't understand how you could stay that shape :D

I will get my coat :hide

I looked at crossfires and tech 8's ended up with GS rallye boots, similar price to the others, but they had the most flex for walking and decent soles. The crossfires didnt fit my feet, so it was GS or tech 8..GS won because I could walk in them without looking like one of the Munsters :D
They defo need loads of mud on them though, but that is the same with any new boot I guess

The alpinestar Vector boots work well for me ! :rob

Very comfortable, even for walking around in..... But

You will need a pair of seal skins when its persistin it down :blast
