Alps 2011 trip sorted

I have now finalised the trip, all routes have been completed, Hotels booked and the final routes look like this:

We are still having a couple of nights near Verdun and three nights in the Black Forest before heading south across Switzerland to the Alps, here we get our first taste of Alpine roads with both St Bernard passes and the Col San Carlo

Then we start hitting some of the highest passes in the Alps

Two nights here gives us a good full day out riding some of the highest (and the highest) passes in the Alps

We then set off over a few more passes for a couple of nights on the Med

After we have finished here, it is up to the Vercours Massif taking in Route Napoleon along the way

We have 3 nights here to take in the Vercours and a quick run up to Alpe d'Huez

Then a rather dull ride back home with a quick overnight to have a look around Troyes. A total of just 3000 miles door to door and a cost of around £800 for accomodation, £400 for fuel and £75 for crossings, plus food and drink for the two of us so i reckon a total of around £2,000 for the two weeks - not bad.

Have you already gone, or are you about to go? If your trip is imminent, you might want to check access to the Galibier - I was there today and it was very trafficky, tons of motorhomes etc - all gearing up for the Tour de France next week. Cols du Var and Bonette were both unaffected.

Have a great trip!

Cheers
Jimmy

Got about 6 weeks to wait, but thanks for heads up, by the time we get there the pedllers should be long gone :D

Great stuff - you should have a fantastic time.

Cheers
