Sold Altberg All Weather Hogg boots

Looks like those boots need a damn good clean... For my Altberg walking boots... they get the laces removed, all dirt scrubbed off, air dried then a couple of thick coats of leder gris clear... keeps them waterproof and supple (no cracks on mine)... just sayin'

Yeah they do but I’ve fallen out with them. After their last walk (Whernside I think) at the end of summer I just put them in the cupboard. They won’t get used again until spring as water gets I. Through the cracks in the leather. The high rand hides the worst of the cracks which appeared after just one year of use.
My Meindl Airstreams get a much harder life and less attention but have lasted better.

Its also possible to buy plastic flowers that need no watering.

If you don't mind giving them a polish now and again, buy these boots, they will outlast you.

Otherwise buy something disposable.

Only fair all this is removed. It started as a for sale thread, not a bleat about the boots i didn't look after thread.

I have the Hi Hogg Altberg boots.. got to be near 20 years old. I love them, superb boots.

wish they were extra wide! my current pair are 12 years old but no longer waterproof... worn though lining at toenail point! and on a gamekeeper pair of boots I have that are same age.
they are decent boots and take a lot of abuse

If only you'd cut them toe nails they'd be still going strong
