I ordered a pair of Boot for my better half on the 24th August via their Website,

Got an email today saying that it was going to take until the 21st November until they are delivered :(

What is the average wait time any of you guys have had to wait for their orders to arrive??

3 months seems a wee bit excessive, or am I being unfair here ?

CC

Did they say what year?

I believe they are damed fine boots but everyone I know has bought them 'off the peg' I was hoping to get some myself maybe I'll see them at the BMF tail-end show and get a pair of ready-mades, or I better start Nik-Waxing up the old 'uns. :(

I ordered a pair a few months ago, they should hopefully arrive this month!!

I had a pair on order last year, but my impatience got the better of me, after 3 months I called Altbergs (before 4 o'clock or they've gone home and not between 12 & 2:30) a very nice lady told me they are a small old fashioned company with a small workforce and my boots would be ready soon......I cancelled the order and got some daytonas but they still emailed me a month later to tell me the boots were ready.
I'm sure they make lovely boots but in this day & age how can it take so long?

I've got two pairs. The wife one. Took forever to arrive, regular 2 week delays 'causeJoe, Bob or Sally had a cold and had taken a day off.

Never wear anything else. Ever. Commuting, Track days, a month in morocco, or a month above the artic circle. I do have bad athritis in my feet. I wear Birkenstock shoes. Altberg couldn't make the boots wide enough because their lasts didn't go that wide, so they custom made them. I had to go to the factory twice (several hundred miles) which was a pain in the arse. But I have never had a pain in my feet since, so no question. Worth the wait.

Without question.

PS. Not so much a small factory as small shed. And they are right next to the Barracks at Catterick.....

Hogg Micro Lite

It took three months for mine to be made, I went to the factory hoping to get a pair of the shelf, but they told me the shelf one's were just the people who had cancelled due to the wait, and there are not many sizes or styles to choose from as not many cancel, so I had mine fitted to my feet for an extra £10, best £10 ever spent.
Highly recommended boots and really helpful people at the factory.
:D

Coolcarbon,

Ordered mine this year at "The Scottish Show" and they finally arrived just over 3 months later.
At first I wasn't well pleased as they felt really tight (yes, even after being fitted etc.). However, after wearing them indoors for a week...no, not all of the time, they suddenly felt great, almost like slippers (....where's ma pipe?).

Anyway, when I wore them on my bike they were excellent.....and strangely enough the gear change improved??????

I'd recommend them.

Aw Naw!!! Please tell me you're joking!!

So which of the 'styles' did everyone go for?

...i quite liked the idea of the shorter type so you could walk about in ya shorts when you got somewhere (presumably hot) and not look a plonker, an be comfy...

....very Ta

Yes and No...

If I'm out on my own it's the full gear

If I'm out with the girl friend it's hiking boots

If I'm out with the girlfriend for a summers evening ride ending in dinner then it's trainers

You could say it's a silly but my thoughs are that if I leave myself a little unprotected then my riding is at 7/10 and much more aware... which means the girlfriend is better off.

It's also a nice feeling jeans, trainers and a leather jacket... wiz up out side a bar helmets of and straight in.

I suppose you'd be shocked if I said whilst in Normandy drifting between the D day beaches i wore shorts and flip flops ( got to get the gear change right on the strap!)...

But again my thoughts are at 30-40 mph max I'm riding no faster than I could on my push bike, I take no chances at junctions and if any danger appears the brakes on the GS have me down to 10-15 mph in a sec.

Shorts?

Charlie, you'll look like plonker wearing ANY boots and shorts.
Shorts are for sandals, my friend.

Now, regarding Altberg. A few words on their behalf. Their bussines is with institutions like your local police force, military police, etc. besides every rambler in the country. So, yes, there is a waiting time. But there is a waiting time also for a Rolls Royce, a new GS, and Michelle Pfiffer.
They are certainly the best boots known to humanity. Providing is winter because the lining is very VERY worm. They last forever, they are repairable at a reasonable cost, and I'm a complete addict to them. As many couriers, dispatch rider (not the same as courier's, mind you) and my neighbour.

Finnally, I paid 160 quids for a pair made to measure. Which is less than you'll pay for an average boot made somewhere in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur

Personal safety is an entirely personal choice. I used to get really hung up when I saw people with trainers or no gloves or a t-shirt but now I realise I was wrong - a "safety nazi" if you read uk.rec.motorcycles

So do I ride without the full set of gear? Yes, sometimes. Frequently in jeans for the 18 mile trip into Bristol in the summer. Sometimes in just a shirt for a quick pootle around the village. But always with gloves. And I love it. And I know the risks. And I change my riding style a little just like Wreford does. It's just about calculated risk taking.

Mike.

Altberg

I have had a pair of "Clubman Classic" for a couple of months now. Was I lucky or what!!?? Saw them on ebay, size 9 and never worn for £60!!! Found them very tight fit to start, but now getting used to them.

Alex, 60 quid? Very lucky man.
Had mine about 4 years now, superb, haven't a lue what model but they have a side zip and velcro flap, come mid calf.
Ordered whilst at shop, they rang a couple of months later with a problem, they put the goretex liner in and i wanted standar, they rush another pair through or i could have the 'cock up' ones for the same price. Oh go on then , i'll have the goretex lined ones. ttcchh.
Wouldn't buy any other boots as my main wear.

After I found a hole in the sole of my current boots I am about to go visit the factory in Richmond, its a nice ride anyway but don't expect to get them much before christmas, I've picked the Clubman Roadster.
