Need some advice and pointing in the right direction if possible. I have got a Black Pizza box and rear tool compartment from Al Jesse, which needs some attention to get it back into use. This is what they look like for reference

As seen below the entire tool carrier has split from mounting point to mounting point. Can I get some ideas from the collective, would a Alum weld fix it?

In addition to this, could I re anodise the boxes with silver instead of black?

Comments welcome. Thanks, Nick

There's a chap called Vern who messes around with this kind of thing ;)

Definately repairable by weld, but get it done by a good TIG/MIG welder, who will know how to deal with the crack.

Not sure about anodizing in a different colour, though - I sense that is not possible. Why not get it powder-coated when repaired.

[you may want to consider adding a reinforcement plate to the base of the top-box to beef it up a bit? A couple of 5mm thick Alu plates may do it ?]

Thanks for the replies chaps. I have dropped Vern a PM, if anyone has a directline to him, please check if he isn't too busy to help out.

Thanks, Nick:thumb

You have a PM,and yes,it's repairable,and yes,it can have a colour change if you want too.I recommend the purple:ymca

Vern - What's involved in anodising in a different finish?

(are you sure about "purple" :ymca )

You'll get a damned good job done in the donkey shed but I'd pay money to be a fat fly on the wall as Vern crucifies Al Jesse's work and your decision to buy it - can we get it on pay per view :D

I think it would have to go out well after the 9pm watershed.... :D

If it's ally, and it's painted,it's got to be cleaned first. If it's anodised, that can just be stripped off,and then anodised whatever colour you want it.The colour is just a dye added after the anodising process, and then sealed. When you buy something that's anodised silver, that's the basic colour it comes out before the dye is added.

Simpe really:mmmm
