I'm looking to get myself a pair of aluminium panniers but need the help of you guys on here. I've narrowed my choice down to, in no particular order:

Jesse - 999 euros
Metal Mule - £780
Caja Sahel - PM'd Civil for a price

This is where you come in... ... I want to see them on a standard 1150. Has anyone in the North West got any of the above fitted and if so could I pop and take a look?

Post or PM me if you can help.

Many Thanks
Dave

If it's any use, Civil's are £500 basic with another £80 if you want domed lids. Mine are due to arrive Wednesday-ish this week. Certainly, Philip (Civil) has been superb throughout. You could try Trotsky as he's just fitted a set and has posted pics and a review at Trotsky fits panniers

Hi Dellis, dont worry about it, just get the Caja's, they are a pain if you want to get them off but super kit

Thanks John,

I'm thinking that as the Caja's are the same price as the Jesse's (once you've added powder coating) and I need them to be easily removable that I'll be going for the Jesse's. Just need to find someone local so I can take a look in the flesh.

I checked out the metal mules at the bike show and thought they were the badgers nadgers. Looked the part, super robust and remove easily but only when the lid is open for security reasons.

If i decide to repace my bm ally luggage they're what i'm going for. :thumb

I have just purchased a set of Alpos panniers...The price is good the panniers seem fine but the catches and top handle are steel...The plating on these looks a bit suspect...Has anybody with the Alpos panniers been using them long enough to see if these bits go rusty ?

I've got the Metal Mules on an R1150GS but am in the wrong part of the country (cambs). I can send you some pics if you want but I guess you want to see them 'in the flesh'?

As piglet said if getting them on and off quickly is a consideration then these are really good. I've no experience of the other two so I don't know how they compare but the Mules can be removed fully packed in seconds. Much quicker than the BMW ally - in fact probably about the same time as the BMW plastic system cases.

As I've said many times before I really rate them (I've used BMW system, BMW ally, & Touratech in the past).

These bits corrode slightly as not stainless however they are good quality steel. They won't break trust me, I've had mine overloaded in a serious way with no probs.
