I have a genuine GS911 thingy and in 15 years of owning loads of bmw bikes never had need of one.

I don't know anything about them - but it would appear from the broken English response to a query about resetting the service indicator that it doesn't actually do this. I get the impression that it's a read-only device - i.e. it won't clear fault codes or reset service indicator, set the date or allow you to code-in tyre pressure sensors.

Appears to be a *lot* cheaper than a GS-911 though!

I've had a GS911 for about 4 years. It's a great piece of kit and has had continual improvements in its feature set. Now on my second BMW I use the same tool. It has saved several dealer visits for things like the abs bleed procedure which can be done at home. Come resale time you should have no problem moving it on. There are 10 licenses in the user version. This is great value by any measure. Cheers.
