......became my first attempt at plugging through mud....or rather clay, and realising exactly how big a GS is.
So, the wife and I decided to take an hour's ride near home. Using the Zumo I found a road which I'd never used before, so that was the way forward. It was marked as a Turkish B-road, which are usually paved, if rather pot-holed. In fact it was this:
Which was fine. I've not really done much riding off good surfaces, other than a little on very easy stuff with some friends here. But, most of the way seemed fairly simple, and fun. This road is almost completely unused by Turks, except for, as it turned out, 4x4 users. After a short while the clay which covers much of this area became apparent:
After another short while, the combination of local clay, and 4x4 users became even more apparent:
And then, my utter inexperience of riding a 200kg bike on local clay, played on by 4x4 users, became worryingly apparent:
This road / track / mudbath, continued for 2km with only a few dry patches along the way. Fun? F*cking right it was!
