Yesterday I noticed on my 2001 GS1150 that the digital clock was not working. Also, the power socket is dead. All other lights, guages, indicators, ABS etc work fine. No blown fuses. Went for a ride and bike runs fine.
With ignition on clock works and can be set, but power socket still dead. Switch off and clock goes off, and is back to zero on restart.
Power socket has only been used to run smart charger and tyre pump from time to time.
Have examined wiring at socket but all seems fine. Wire disappears to God knows where behind socket.
Bike has not had a hard life. Only used on dry days in winter
Whilst not a ride stopper, I'd be most grateful for any clues as to what's wrong together with advice on how to fix it, as I want to plug in a camera detector.

Regards to all

I think you have two unrelated problems.

1. Your battery is low - the power needed to start the bike is zeroing your clock. If you're keeping it on a battery tender, then it may be on its way out (the battery).

2. Your power socket is duff. Most likely the inside is corroded (this happens a lot) - clean it up with some emery as a start, see if that cures it.

A connection may be that you have been using a duff socket to keep the battery in shape. Since the socket isn't functioning, the battery has not been 'tended' as you think it has...

Thanks for your quick replies guys.
Will check fuse again t/morrow.
First thing I did was to dismantle and clean socket and plug, Not too bad. No meaningful reading on meter having pulled plug from back of starter cover, indicating deader than a dead thing.
Battery seems fine, turns over at normal speed and ABS clunks in after about 2 metres travel.
Smart charger was used about 3 weeks ago, all lights coming on and going off as usual.

Sorry about that - touched wrong key.

Examined fuses again in daylight, lo and behold, as suggested. fuse 3 kaput!!!
Replaced - power now to socket but not out of other side.
Found bad solder joint - applied s/iron, now all is well with the world.

Cheers
