Hi again,

As per previous posts, I'm coming back to biking after a seven year pause, so no NCD. Also, no recent claims nor any convictions, 38 years old, living in Edinburgh. The bike will be parked on-street (although it's a *really* safe street).

I'm getting quoted over £450 (fully comp) - that's pretty consistent (Carole Nash, BMW, Devitts, Bennetts). Does that seem reasonable?

Reasonable?

Paid £380 first time out as fresh off the boat - now down to £290 (fully comp) need to prove you're a "responsible" tosser

Depends on the bike - you don't say in the OP or mention in your profile.

Assuming it is a fairly new R-GS then it does not sound too bad.

If it's for a snotter of a CG125 then maybe not

Yep.

I'm younger, so my first quotes rounded out fully-comp at £550 for a brand new GSA, this years were £450.

As above, this assumes a decent value of bike - if it's for £1k's worth of rusty steed then you're being robbed.

Ebikes 'pay as you go' policy may make it more affordable for you. has the added benefit of applying a years NCB every 8 months. so after 2 years you will have 3 years ncb.

This is what I did when I returned to the GS after a couple of years off. and money was tight. Now with Carole nash - the clincher for me was the full european rescue thats included in 'her' package plus the rather low premium - £86.
