Hi Guys and Gals,
Two of us thinking of flying to Seville or Malaga in early October and renting a couple of bikes for seven days. Don't want to travel around with too much luggage so we're interested in a base near Ronda and riding out every day. Can anybody recommend a Hotel or Self catering establishment in the area? It doesn't have to be too posh. Not too close to the main tourist spots, off street parking for bikes and good restaurant nearby would be the main priorities.

Regards,
Kieran.

Not Ronda, but might be interesting for you http://www.gsheaven.com/public/department35.cfm

If you want to stay near Competa I can recommend a small villa that we have just used.

I'll have to look it up but I've used the Pension Biarritz a few times. Very cheap, fairly basic and close to town centre. The guy there has a ramp and lets you ride into reception and park on the marble floor.

There's a few chips in the wall tiling where we knocked some tiles off with our panniers but he wasn't fussed:D

My mob will be in Competa during the first week of October. We've rented all vacant accomodation in the area (well nearly)!

:D

In fact, if you speak to Graham or Liz at Trailblazers you could rent a couple of trail bikes and accomodation and ride the same trails as us.

Mention my name if you decide to contact them.

Competa is a good base and the Hotel d'Competa is a reasoanble quality and very good value...and they are used to bikers.

If you want something thats not 'knobblie tyred' but can do the loose gravel stuff try this mob:

...ask for Trevor or Mary and tell them I sent ya....you probably wont get a discount...but I might next time.....

We were there last week again, but no biking this time, just relaxing :D

Not sure if you tried it last time but would really recommend El Pilon restaurent in the middle of Competa:thumb2

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info above. We're not really interested in going off road. We're getting too old for off road and don't bounce as well as we used to. :)
Most likely we'll hire from Motoespana and just explore the twisty tarmac bits within range of our base. Looking at the map anywhere near Ronda seems to be ideal. Not too fussy about hotel/apartment as long as we can park the bikes safely and theres good restaurant/bar within walking/staggering distance. :beerjug:

Me again,
We've booked two GS ADVs and seven nights B&B with GS Heaven.
Booking form a little tricky but they seem to be fairly efficient so far.
Not going until early October. Thanks again for the info above and I'll
update the post when I get back. :beerjug:

Hi all,
just an update on the above. Top marks to GS Heaven. Bikes, accomodation and food top class. GPS and laminated routes available. Roads brilliant. Weather good 6days out of 7. Will be going back in the New Year.
