Trying to find out about the CS310 . Map Ref N42 31.961 E1 31.523 coming out of Andorra heading north. Anyone tried it ?

If that's the main road into France, it's quite nice. Don't go through the tunnel though, take the pass over Pas de la Cassa

Gazza, I hope to be on that road soon too, we should be passing through Andorra on Sunday May 23rd enroute to Barcelona.

PS. Owe you a beer cos I noticed the postage for the SPIII lead cost you.

Thanks for the replies chaps when I have finished the whole route I will try and stick it on here. Start to Finish is around 3000 miles. Bilbao to Cherbourg the long way.

Gazza, we're doing the reverse trip Cherbourg to Bilbao. When are you going? By the way my Mapsource doesn't have a CS310 coming out of Andorra it's called the CG2, my 2004 Michelin Europe map also has it down as the CG2.

Going last week in September and First week October.
The CS310 doesn't appear until you zoom in close.

Recommended.

If as someone said its the road over Pass De La Cassa it is a great road. Here is it in 2002 on my Transalp. It was the sight of 3 or 4 Germans coming over the top on Blue/white GS1150's that made me think "I'm going to buy one of those". I'm off to Spain on Monday with my new 1200 but we plan to go over the border west of Andorra. By the way this is the cheapest bike gear ever. Givi boxes at give away prices, leathers, helmets the lot at knock down prices. Its all oin the road coming into Andorra La Vella from the South. There must be 25 bike shops on the one street.

Funnily enough the Transalp is one of the best bikes I've ever had and very very underated and tomoorow someone is coming to take it away.......sad day.

Have Fun

what time of year

Andy T

What time of year was that photo taken? I'm down that way around 27th May, and want to know how many jumpers to take if there's that much snow around :(

It was around the first week of May. I wasn't wearing to much as it only gets nippy up at the top. When you get over to Spain the weather will be much warmer.

HAve Fun

Andy

Thanks for that, Damart now repacked in attic :) It's my one and only annual trip with a friend, and I've never been to the Pyrennes this time of year before, so was getting a bit worried.

Digi camera in Andorra

I want a digital camera for the trip but I'm wondering whether it's worth waiting until I get to Andorra and buy one there. Are the savings worthwhile?

Anybody out there bought any goods of this nature in Andorra?

I didn't find the prices in Andorra to be that cheap, you really need to be clued up on the prices before you go, if you want electronics then there are loads of little Indian run shops off the main drag where you can haggle, you can generally get them down to a third of the original asking price. But most electronics are cheaper at Costco.

Going from Andorra into Spain is a pain because every vehicle gets searched and the guards are humourless bastards. Andorra to Frnce is no problem at all.

I wanted a Roof helmet and these were going for 199 euros but the same thing in Toulouse (BMW dealer) was 165 Euros. The only thing that was really cheap was the big Givi topboxes, these were £90 - I can send you the mapsource data for the bike shop selling the cheap Givis if you need it.

I thought Andorra was a bit of a shit hole a bit like Skeggy in the mountains.

Be very aware about the new camara, or make sure you take receipts. I bought a camara before I left the UK and didnt think to take the paperwork. The Andorra/Spanish border nearly cost me my new toy I had a job hanging on to it believe me.....

Thanks Rob, I'll check out the Indian run shops. With regard to the Spanish border searches this won't be a problem, just a PITA I guess, are they asking for luggage to be taken out of panniers and doing a complete search?

Don't need any Givi luggage mate but thanks anyway.

OK some one could have mentioned that the C3110 is beautifully surfaced going west -> east, and there was a deer standing in the road at the top! And then they could have mentioned that the other side is unsurfaced. I haven't got my GS yet, and my Fazer 1000, didn't like the look of it, so turned round after 100 meters (Can I hear cries of wuss?). Still a great place for bikes, and agree with everyone on all the other roads mentioned on this thread.

A 2610 in Andorra is just under £800 (well the one shop I asked) so I didn't bother getting one there.

Cheers

Don't understand. All I've ever been asked is " have I got any alcohol or baccy. Never been searched to any extent.
Anyway, just make sure you've taken a picture of your house before you leave. Sort of proves that you didn't buy it in Andorra.
I'm assuming you didn't pack it in the original box......did you?
