I have now tested the suspension upgrade off road, and can definitely say it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
I used a route that I regularly ride fast on my modern Africa Twin. It has some nice flat sections, some with water filled holes to weave through, some mud, a concrete humpback bridge with a large step each side, and a steep climb/descent with loose gravel. The AT has no problems. The GS in the past would be hard work, deflecting out of control, and sliding sideways. This time, with the new fork cartridges, it just blasted through easily, more like the AT. I got up to about 45mph on some sections. I could have gone faster. Tyres are road-oriented Michelin Anakee, which are surprisingly good on dirt. I have knobbly Bridgestone Adventurecross AX41 on my Africa Twin.
