Hi chaps, looking at a 16.5 build October 16 TE with Dynamic Pro package. Did this include GSAP back then as it’s not listed separately on the build sheet as option 222 Shift Assistant Pro?

Pic below is I think the pdf for the full 2017 model year.

Yes, I have decoded the VIN but 222 is not showing separately.

In which case it doesn't look like it's equipped - or if it's equipped it's not enabled. Have a look here (post #9 onwards) to see if the sensor is fitted? Otherwise it might be worth a visit to a BMW dealer to see if it can ll be retrofitted (if it's that important to you). Otherwise use the lack of GSAP to knock the price down!

I don’t think it’s fitted. Shame. The unit seems to be around £400 new or £100-200 used. I know it has to be coded but guessing there is also a cable required?

Anything else? Has anyone retrofitted one?

Don't think there's a cable required as it's all controlled by the sensors in the unit and the bike software.

Presuming it has to plug into something (existing loom?) as it has a port on the side.

Ah sorry got confused between electrical cable and eg bowden cable. Yes there would have to be a connection to the main loom somewhere. For my '15 bike realoem only lists two basic looms with/without Dynamic ESA so suspect that if your bike has Dynamic ESA then your loom may already have the relevant connector.

My personal experience is it has been the most pointless feature on all four of my GS / GSAs. Clutched changes are far smoother, and if it takes me a second or two more to complete the gear change, so be it. If it wasn't fitted as standard, I wouldn't add it as an extra.

I’m the opposite, specced it on my 1200 when it was an option and loved it

it’s brilliant for trail braking into corners as it blips for you, makes it much easier to control your front brake as you come down the box, saves pogoing the front end when you get it wrong :D

Got it on the 1300 obviously and it’s even better

Be aware, if you fit this retrospectively, you need to declare it as a mod..
However if it came fitted as std, it isnt a mod lol
