Another ABS quiz

does anyone know what this is all about on an 1100GS 97 - I have reset the ABS, have a gel battery but still have this problem: the lights flash together as they should then I pull off - they stay on for a bit then go off and the ABS does not always self test, after they go out . Also on occasion i have to rev the bike hard before I set off as I still get intermitent flashing lights from time to time. I know there are a few threads addressing the second problem but can't find anything on the first.
