Picked up my 1200GS Adv last Thursday. 2 days of blazing sunshine across Scotland from east to west and back. What a weekend.
Having come from a Dakar, I'm used to the height and the wide bars, so the dimensions weren't much of a problem for me to get used to. The extra weight, even with a full tank, isn't that much of a problem. It is slower coming up from a corner with all that weight high up, but when the tank empties a bit, that seems to improve. The bike handles like a dream in comparison to the Dakar though and now the tyres are worn in a bit, I'm surprised by how quickly I've gotten used to it and how I can press on much quicker and more confidently than on the Dakar.
The Metal Mule rack and silencer have arrived today, so that's a few hours of tinkering to look forward to this evening!
I'm delighted with the bike and glad I went for the Adv, but that's personal taste. One thing about it - it turns heads wherever you go that's for sure!
All in all I'm delighted.
