Picked up last week, hoping to run it in over the weekend. I notice on the luggage stickie FAQ it doesn't mention the BMW OEM luggage? Is there anything wrong with it? I like the idea of being the same key, a bit expandable, and I'm sure it's tough enough for the UK/Europe? Otherwise I have a mudguard extender, head protectors, tobinators to fit ASAP, and hopefully HID & Akra soon after that.

Hi Danny, welcome to site and congrats on new bike

My comment relates to the panniers. I presume from your description that they are BMW's own Vario cases. I had a pair fitted to my last 1200, and lost one off the side while travelling - was on when I left home, but not when I arrived at my destination some 2 hours later. Didn't notice/hear it fall off at all.

It seems that the "mushrooms" that they fit on have to be set to a pretty close tolerence or else the pannier is not as secure as it might be. There are a number of threads on this site that go into some detail, I am not sure how to post a link to a specific thread that I started last year (long defunct) but you may be able to do a search - meanwhile I will see if I can work out how to post links.

So in essence, my thoughts on Varios are that they are decent enough cases, and should be 100% fine for general use, but please make sure they are attached properly or you will end up having to buy some more
