noticed when pulling away whilst engine cold.
cold start on
A sort of loud chirping noise is all I can describe it as.
Noticed it while riding without helmet, so it may have been around a while.
Doesnt sound like metel scraping , more like a belt slipping, could be alternator belt but not sure.
Any ideas ?

Belt

Not your new Red Bike I take it, but the old one;)

More than likely your alternator belt, How many miles you done?

Rev your engine at standstill see if that makes it happen, just a quick blib.

Check for nesting starlings in the airbox.

Yep, mine does that as well!!

It was even louder before I changed the alternator belt. It's probably because the alternator is under a high load when the bike is first started.

Mine too. I've wondered whether it's the alternator belt or maybe the clutch making a noise first time it bites after being stood? I'll try to remember to experiment with what conditions cause it sometime...
