Antique guns advice please

The police cannot issue a destruction notice without the owners signed consent no matter what you think or say.

I didn't say they could. They would seek to get the OP to surrender them for disposal(destruction), failing that a court order. The police don't issue a 'destruction notice' with or without consent.

I said they would seize them, with a view to their ultimate destruction. If some-one reported possibly unlicensed firearms they would almost certainly come and take them away. Most police officers, even FEO's, these days don't have a clue about guns and sadly most of them don't know the law

The OP would then have to get them to a dealer from the police.

Far easier to assume they are imitations and take them straight to a dealer Monday morning.

But technically the "owner" would be in possession of illegal firearms (no ticket!), and this can attract a 5 year spell in the nick...if this was the case would you risk your liberty over a few old guns?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section

Sadly, my wifes' elderley uncle is in the process of moving to a residential home. Uncle Bob has asked my wife to act on his behalf and clear the house, taking care of his estate etc.

These guns have been Bobs for many many years.
As we have no idea what to do with them, I wondered if anyone could tell us anything about them, does he have any value in them? Are they worthless?

These links may help give you an idea of the kind of value you are looking at:

These links are for working guns.

You may find that some fall under the term "obsolete calibres", which do not require an FAC.

Both the underlever rifle and the Enfield will need deactivation certificates if you wish to hold on to them.

Sounds like you need to find a Firearms dealer that knows what he is talking about, and won't take you for a ride. There should be some good links in Guntrader, failing that try Mike Moody at South Coast gunmakers for advise:

He's purdey trained and a very approachable and helpful chap.

Please keep us all posted!
