Hi.
I've got a 2005 F650GS. I'd like to find a fender extender and an extender for the back mudflap thingy. all I could fing so far is a fender extender for the 2008 model omwards.
Any suggestions where to look?

Thanks
Linda

hi,this is a single spark f650gs?
back mudflap thing could be the touratech type flap (motorworks, nippy norman etc or use a simple cheap aftermarket mudflap.

front one is more difficult. If you have standard high gs guard,
bmw sell a beak extender. Also a small bit of plastic for the back of the front mudguard.made for the f650gs dakar;)or again just make your own.)

unless you have a low front mudguard, then you could make an extension for that.

i have just ordered a low front mud guard as I a fed up with wet feet. seems crazy that one was not fitted by BMW:blast

Regarding the back mudguard, TT make a metal thing that goes behind the number plate with a rightangle bend out to catch the spray. I found it improved things but wasn't perfect. Somebody on F650.co.uk made their own with a bigger piece sticking out that worked better. Wunderlich do a plastic one that looks from the pics would work better. Nippy Norman can get them.

Hi
Thanks for your help so far. I've had a look at quite a few websites and compared the shape of the fender, where the extender bit would go. They are all different from the one on my bike. Mine is very short at the back and has fairly sharp corners, not round like most fenders.
If you think, you know where to get something that fits, please let me know and send me a link or a contact.
BTW I've send an email inquiry to Nippy Norman and the answer was, they can't help me at all (in as many words). I thought they were a bit more friendly.

Bye

Hmm, that's odd. There is a picture of the rear fender extender that I refered to on their home page. It's fitted to an F800GS but they also make them for F650GS (singles) too. In fact I think they are the same.

As for the TT one, this is what I bought:

They also do a longer front mudguard:

Thanks Barry
I'll probably go for that as well. Are you knowledgeable on handguards as well? I know TT does them but they are very pricey (like everything for the BMW). Are there other choices?

Rarely called knowledgeable on anything, but FWIW:

Mine had standard BMW ones. OK I suppose. They kept some wet and cold off the hands, but I did keep promising to buy my self some of the little extension pieces that fix to the top to direct even more weather away, but never did. Take a look on faq.F650.com, I'm sure there is stuff on the different makes there. I suspect that the BMW ones will be best fit.

i found that the BMW handguards are okay, but not quite big enough to protect the top and bottom of your hands at the same time.

i put on the TT handguard spoilers and they make a big difference, would highly recommend them!

The TT ones are made by Acerbis, to which they attach a TT badge & a suitable price tag. :augie

For the front mudguard on my GS, Graham got another new std front mudguard, cut off the rear short bit from both and bolted them back to back in the standard holes, then fitted a mudflap to the rear mudguard on the beak. Keeps all the crap off the engine and most of it off my legs and boots and stops anything going up to the bottom steering head bearing, it also looks professional. Sue

I bought them, and although they seem to direct "fresh" air/rain away, they also change the flow on my bike and I get air on my shoulders now and at the end that produces more vibrations than before.

I'm gonna try to buy some handlebar risers to see whether it improves.....fingers crossed :augie

Linda, send an e-mail with your phone no to [email protected] and he will call you. I also use the Touratec hand guard extensions, 45mm bar risers and the lower wunderlich screen all of which work well. Sue
