My 1979 R80/7 is running like a sack of shite and I'm tearing what remains of my hair out. Is there anybody in this part of the world who might be able to cast an experienced eye over it?
After many years I've finally got it to start well. It idles beautifully, but when I try and open it up a bit it's gutless and has that farty sort of feel as though the head gasket was blowing, but a compression test gives 150-160 on both pots. I thought maybe diaphragms, but they're fine. Points and timing are spot on. Carbs are balanced. Arghh..
One thing that seems a little strange is that I've ended up with the mixture screws just about 1/4 turn out.
Any suggestions?
