Any constructive suggestions please

Is this what you are thinking of? :D

I made one ages ago for a fellow Tosser :thumb2

yeah they would be the buggers!! r they the 5L cans?

an how much an how do they attach?

On the subject of padding to prevent friction due to vibration...wouldn't it be easier to put the bottle in a neoprene bottle sleeve and then just strap it as normal?

They're not too expensive, come in a range of sizes, and to be honest would look better, and last longer, than the padding strips or rubberised pads?

....just a thought. :thumb2

That's a bloody good, simple and obvious idea mate :thumb2

Mate, they bolt onto the side of the pannier - I`ll dig out all the bumf on it next week and try to get a price to you.

You suggested, I did..........................

Ok guys, I`ve cut it down a bit and from another suggestion the straps now can go around the bottle and insulate it from rubbing against the stainless steel - though I am still happy to provide the little anti vibe pads if required.

If there are not any further well received and much appreciated opinions then I may look to finally put it in the vendors section?

Regards, thanks again for all the help to make it as best as I can.

Off the wall thought:

Why make it as one piece? If you made the top and bottom parts seperately, they could be spaced according to the buyers needs - and therefor fit many more types of pannier. With two mounting points on each strap, it'd still be strong enough, yet lighter...

And if you lined up the strap slots with the mounting bolts, the straps could be bolted to the holder, preventing them being stolen.

Good idea mate :thumb2

good on you for doing some consumer research - it looks like a great peice of kit and I can't suggest any useful changes. Now the crunch: how does that undoubted quality come out price-wise? I don't suppose many of us I buy entirely on price but it is a factor.

Will the bottle chafe on the mounting bolts???

I was just going to say that :thumb2

Yes, those rubber pads that you showed in the photo would be better than nothing, but I think the bolt heads that are in the facing-outwards side of the cage have got to be flat'n'flush....those hex heads (or even the round headed allen bolts in the last few piccies) will wear though those rubber pads in minutes off road.

After that, rubber pads are less of an issue.......they can be obtained from any DIY store in a multitude of shapes and colours, or in strips as you showed, and probably wouldn't have to be part of your kit, but just left to the end user to decide whether they need them or not.

Its already on the site mate www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk but NOT in the vendors section until I am sure I have listened to everyones kind comments (not sure about the one to shove it up my ass..........:D)

IMHO it is a hand finished low volume item but the price never reflects how much it should cost (as that sorta thing tends to cost zillions) - rather what I think is right so that people don`t think I am taking the p*ss

I`ve had my nuts chaffed before..................

Anyway, my sentiments entirely - personally the pads are good and readily available but if any fellow Tosser wants pads I`ll send them as I had to buy a big sheet to get the ones for the images. Also, neoprene sleeve is a good one but as for the `rubbery strips` - its a matter of choice and I respect whatever people want to do - I think I will allow other people to make the decision on what they want.

BTW the pads done go on the bolts and the round headed fasteners (coach bolts) have too much square depth (if you can understand what I am trying to say) to work but I did try then first!

Mark....ask one of those nasty fascist bastard moderators :augie to move this thread to the vendors section, as it applies to all GS models, not just nancy 1200s :)

I wouldn't bother talking to Toad though, he's a meany :D

Seriously, anything that is better/cheaper/more British than Touratwat, made by one of our own and produced with active feedback from the denizens of UKGSER, should get the maximum exposure, and although the 1200 brigade have a long and ignoble history of having more wonga than brains or taste, those of us lucky and sensible enough to ride the 11xx variants, and even the ones who smell of wee who ride the airheads, will be interested in your toys :thumb2
