Hi all, hoping some kind soul can help. Currently in the South of France, bike was running beautifully after day one, early on day two started to pop on the overrun, gradually got worse and idle was high once it warmed up, now running like a dog with bad surging, high idling which is ok in the dry but won't be much fun if it gets wet!

What bike? Did you do anything (refuel - pressure wash - remove and replace seats/tank) just before it started to happen?

I'll say it again. It could be your TPS -

What do you want me to say ???? Hows about this for a hint or tip. Electric meter or diagnostic equipment needed for checking.

Update if anyone is interested

Took the beast to the local main dealer, didn't start very auspiciously as the service manager started the bike in gear on the side stand and then dumped the clutch....with the inevitable consequences:blast

Mechanic then came out and suggested it was right hand throttle body that needed replacing due to wear, thought this was unlikely as th bike has only done 22,000 miles, but OK he would know better then me. They couldn't do anything for over a fortnight due to workloads and availability of spares, so we decided the best option was to stick to main roads and see how close to home we could get. Basically ragged it for 400 miles at "motorway speeds" after which the bike stopped surging, stopped backfiring and besides idling a bit high seemed for like its old self. Now wondering if it was some duff fuel or more likely some crud from the tank being washed into the fuel system. Back home now and thebike is running fine, will look at the idle speed with the BBS and hopefully everything will be sorted. Only problem now is, it is a long way back to the Millau Bridge that we missed!
