Any reason NOT to run brake lines direct from master cylinder to each caliper?

OK, the story so far.

Custom Hose in Watford:

Went up there and the chap looked over the bike. Considered doing the twin hose thing but there's not much extra room for the second banjo bolt at the master cylinder due to the handguard bracket.

He reckoned the best way to do it was with the little splitter the way bmw had done it. Didn't have the splitter in stock but said they could get 'any part the next day', so I said great, let's make that happen.

Phoned at lunchtime, no sign of the splitter, phoned at 3, still no sign of the splitter and they hadn't had time to chase it up. Phoned at 4 to find it had been sent by post not courier, so won't be here today, 'might' be here tomorrow or thursday.

Not exactly their fault, but given that they said they could have it done and made up by this afternoon, I'm not too chuffed. Another day that I can't work on the bike and I may not be able to tomorrow either.

Probably should have just gone to Silverstone to Earl's main office, still contemplating that for tomorrow. Will call Watford late morning, if the part's still not there, I think I'll head up the motorway and just get it done while I wait at Silverstone. I don't like taking trade away from a shop when I've said I'll buy something from them, but I also don't like waiting an extra couple of days when told something will be in at a certain time.

Good thing of the day though, I'd been trying to find red rubber grease and none of the local motor parts places seem to carry it any more. Eventually found a little shop who said 'oh I've got a tub of that in the back, bring a little pot down and you can have some of mine. What a nice thing to do, so I bought the brake cleaner and brake fluid from him. Sadly he's in the process of closing his shop down.

Now have an interview for a new job tomorrow morning so no trip to Silverstone, hopefully they'll have the parts in in Watford and I can pick them up in the afternoon.

Latest installment. Nothing turned up on the wednesday, so suggested they could have a part overnighted otherwise it wouldn't be in during the week. They said they'd see what came in on Thursday. Nothing did. Eventually they agreed to dhl a new bit which didn't arrive until late friday. I didn't know this as they didn't call me back, in fact at no time did they call me back all week, despite promising too.

Today, Monday, I phone to find they have the part, but it's a different one to what they ordered apparently. I'm working again this week, and all the bank holiday, I work long shifts and can't get to them during office hours. I asked if they could make up the lines and post them to me if I paid for shipping. They said they'd like to remeasure my bike (despite measuring it themselves when I took it up there) as the part was different. The part is the splitter.

I can't get the bike to them during office hours for the next few weeks.

So basically, I've no chance of getting the lines from them until I next can take time off work.

Really should have just gone to bloody silverstone instead of trying to support a local company. Really can't offer a recommendation of them at all. Not very helpful, poor customer service and couldn't get something they said they could do in 24 hours done within a week.

Brake upgrade will have to wait a while :(

you can buy all parts of a brake line seperatly, and put it together yourself exactly how you want it,,,,
im in the process of getting some done with gs1150 down it , or a bm badge on it, in silver or black,
but itl be a while before i get it

I believe years ago if my memory isn't shot the whole joint was run by a man named Shaun who set it up and knew his onions. I feel partly responsible for your predicament. Sorry.

Not your fault at all, just one of those things. I'll wait until I have the time spare and go to silverstone and get it all done properly.
