Hi

I've got to take two weeks holiday in September and would love to take in parts of Norway and/or Sweden on my 1200GS on tarmac (only!). Been looking at the map today and southern Norway looks good.

Is the weather still good enough in early September to make the riding a pleasure, because that's mainly what I would be doing in between photo stops and food/fuel stops?

I can camp if I have to but would much prefer staying in small guest houses or BnB's where possible. I know its not a cheap country but I'm not going for a booze up, I'm going to see the country and rides the roads.

Thanks in advance,
Ali

Come to the Norwegian GS Meeting Sept 6-9. There will be "gravel 101". You do not need knobbies, you will not damage your bike, and you will have loads of fun.

September can be wet and cold, or it can be nice. Nights can be cold in a rent. We usually ride until October 1 around here in Oslo.

Rode to the Arctic Circle in Norway last September-the weather was generally good, in 12 days we only had one day that rained from morning to night-but we were lucky. Lots of camp sites, we stayed mainly in the small cabins. they sleep 4, again this worked out good value for us as there was four in the group. We bought our food in supermarkets and cooked in the cabins. The sites were all very clean with great facilities. Owners very trusting-in the morning you just left the keys in the cabin and off you went. (you are expected to leave the cabins as you find them) Price wise it worked out about £10-£15 per head per night.

Enjoy your trip-you will love it

Thanks, I decided September is not the best month so I am making other plans. I want to travel up as far as Lofoten and spend a few days there so looking at doing it next May :beerjug:
