Hi there, I have just moved to Zurich from the UK with the intention of bringing my 2001 1150 over in the next couple of months. I'm looking forward to meeting some people to ride with and exploring Switzerland and surrounding countries.

Any advice on importing bike to Switzerland, insuring and maintaining it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Hi,
I moved to Baden (near Zürich) in April.

You can import a bike (or car) for free (apart from a fee of 40 CHFs) if you get it through the MFK (Swiss MOT) within a year and register it in Switzerland. You just need to declare it when crossing the border to customs. Easy really - just swap the headlights for driving on the right.

Plenty of BMWs here and plenty of clubs.
