Contacting several dealers "local" to me.

Rainbow in Rotherham

So far only Rainbow have replied to my original email, and that was a same day response!

I've visited Astles when I was passing, they seemed reasonably friendly and none pushy. Also heard good reports from people of both these and Rainbow.

So what sort of deals have people struck with any when buying, and any reports of good / bad service would be much appreciated.

Hi Andy.

I had a K1200RS off Astles 4 years ago. Got an excellent deal and was able to haggle for BMW boots to be thrown in which I still have.
Interestingly the K1200RS I was trading in threw a con-rod on the way to collect the new bike! Quick call to Astles and they said get the recovery vehicle to deliver me and bike to them and I could still ride away on the new bike same day.
A few days later they advised that their contact with BMW had resulted in a new short engine as a good will gesture and I would only have to pay labour. Bike was over 12 months out of warrantee but had full BMW service history. I did ask for the broken bits for my collection but they came over all coy and said that they had been returned to BMW for inspection.

Good luck with whoever you choose to go to. If you don't mind travelling I can recommend Jefferies of Shipley. I have had a couple of bikes off them including my R1200GS new in '04 and they have been excellent through all the well known teething troubles reported elsewhere.

I've had dealings with Jefferies, and wasn't impressed. However other site members assure me the person in question has left the building.

Sounds like another thumbs up for Astles as well.

Dealings with Rainbow have been via email so far. I had booked a test ride a couple of years ago but had a mishap on the way and never made it. They were superb then, and have been very professional during my brief email chats with them recently. However, I hope they cut a good deal!
