hiya, after riding/building streetfighter for the past 15 years i,m kinda used to the minimalist look and plodding along at 80mph motorway speeds with head blowing all over the place has never bothered me,so whilst in the process of spraying the inside of my r1100gs tall screen satin black i stood back and thought now theres an instant improvement without it on:thumb2 i,m considering cutting it down to the bare minimum just above the clocks or doing away with it altogether.anyone else done this or am i the only saddo in the club

great in the heat of the summer.. and for me was fine as I never use motorways. In the worst of weather i'm not so sure though - Never tried it and not sure I'ld want to.

Screens

I've ridden my150 0ccasionally with no screen usually after a prang, ok but depends what sort of milage your looking at, few hundered a day and I would't do it, but then used to ride everthing without one once but handy for long runs in winter weather.

with just a short 40mile round trip i,ll risk it without for a while see how it feels, and keep a cut down screen for long trip emergencies.tall screens just don,t do it for me i suppose i,ve still got a bit of hooligan in me:)

Due to me being Old and 5ft 15" and riding lots of gravel and sand (read standing up quickly when needed) I built the spare seat up by 50mm , doesnt sound much but makes a big difference to my knee angle and control plus ease of getting into standing...

But, lifts me MORE above the screen, much worse gonna try the screenless it cannot be worse..

no screen on mine, being a short arse i just hide under the clocks, around town its better without, but 100mph plus gets a bit noddy 120 plus just hold on.

was thinkin of taking off 1150 screen in summer - not seen any others with it off , but surely if you green lane / off road you'd want to 'have it off' for visibility and not to head-butt it !!??:nenau

1150GSA with no screen is great in the summer, for shorter journeys. No buffeting and clear (cooling) air stream.

I haven't tried it on any long tours, so can't comment about that other than to say that I think it would be quite tiresome on fast roads, but great on the B's

:rob Just a side note - I found that the aerodynamics are really poor (no real surprise there) with noise, turbulence, buffeting (I've also got tobinators, and a Ztechnic tall screen). However on a trip back through Switzerland the noise and buffeting all disappeared as I entered one of their long tunnels and it was perfect .......... OBVIOUSLY NO CROSS WINDS..... I have also found that taking off the handguards, carrying a tank bag, or a pillion also effect the airflow and therefore the noise and buffeting.

Cheers
