Anybody know what the torque setting is for the rear sprocket nuts?

This info is for bikes with 8mm? fixing bolts, late 2009/2010 the size of bolts was increased to 10mm. I remember MCN commenting on losing a sprocket nut off their early test bike. I have not heard of anybody shearing the early bolts in normal use so put locktite on the threads and just nip them up tight.

ILMV posted his just as I was writing mine. I think 25 Nm is a much easier torque to set than using an angle gauge, My info disk is BMW service CD 1st edition 03/2008 so it looks like some things have changed. I must find out how to insert images & text from the CD.

Sooty open the cd info, press PrtSc (Print screen button) by the Function-keys.

Open paint, press cntrl+V (paste). Save as]


From there you can cut out peices of the saved file as has ILMV done.

Sorry i havent responded yet mate (just noticed you asked on my other post) but been away on humm 2010 for the last week

Anyway did ours upto 25nm, lasted us fine for the past 2500 miles

Bike is much better now with a smaller front and a bigger rear.
Easy worth the £68 it cost to swap them.

Does anyone know if the speedo will be affected by the change?

I have had bikes before where the sensor was on the front sprocket but I could not see anything on the GS.

Speedo isnt affected (other than the normal 10% as standard when run against a GPS).

Fuel consumption is noticeably different though at high speed. We we 'crusing' at around 85mph and both commented at how much quicker we went through fuel (no solid figures im afraid). Saying that though it still has awesome MPG and the improvement off-road is worth the downside in fuel.
