I'm just about to pull my R90 apart for a complete rebuild. The seats going and it's getting a complete restyle.

Anybody looking for a standard seat? thought I'd ask before it goes on Ebay.

I need a tank if you have one laying about. It doesn't show on the picture but the tank was stoved in with a brick when the bike was stolen a while back. The dents across the edge of the tank making a repair difficult.

Good project, Rob. I bought a 1977 R100/7 about 9 months ago, it's almost identical to your bike, including the colour.
I bought it in England and intended using it for a cafe-racer project. It had been standing for years and had covered just 37K miles. When I started stripping the bike and cleaning all the parts, I found that nearly all the fasteners were still in excellent condition and nothing appeared to have been apart before.
I'm sure you've worked on 30+ year-old bikes where every previous owner had just a hammer and screwdriver in their toolkit!
In the end, I decided the bike was too good to modify, the frame has been powder-coated, everything else has been cleaned and re-fitted.
Unfortunately it will be sold, It's now French registered and I've bought a 1977 R100RS for the cafe-racer project.
If you remember, it's the one with the engine number query.
You tied the engine number with a R60/6, but it's got more interesting!
Jim Cray reckons that the unstamped rectangular area on the front left of the casing means it probably is a /7 engine, which apparently is when the area was introduced.
I've been advised that when the clutch assembly is removed, there may be a cast year number on the casing. It will be interesting to see what is found.
The heads have been removed for the un-leaded conversion and one was standard, the other had an additional spark plug hole!
I'm dreading what will be found in the casings, so far just quantities of water!!!

Rob, number two son had taken the workshop keys out with him tonight, i will call in on the way home from work tomorrow afternoon.:thumb

PS: Rob, could the one i have be from the RT! as i also have a few bits of plastic front end that are the same colour. Would that do you if it's OK and from the RT.....????
Lyn.

Lyn,

The RT tanks a different length even though it fits on the /6 mounts. The /6 seat doesn't close with the /7 tank fitted. I'd have to fit a /7 seat and maybe a /7 sub frame.

the /6 tank has rubber knee pads.

Thanks for looking though :)

Rob, just found a pic of said tank, it has a bermpppp in the right side, any good to you?

That's a /7 tank Lyn. Got a pile of them along with a nice gold RS fairing, tanks and 3/4 sports seat :eyebrow

Thanks for looking for me :beerjug:

Sorry about that Rob, i will put a sticker on it before i have a play and remove the ding. i have slung the wheel in the scrap bin ready for the Ali price to go up, removed the discs as they looked almost new, wheel had a nasty ding in it too. Don't spose all that plastic is worth any thing to anybody so that will go too in the summer.

That sounds exactly like my R80/7! :)

I could do with a decent /7 seat if anyone has a spare one? Proff showed me some on ebay.kraut but not confident enough in my German to deal directly with the hun.
