After 12 yrs of under 9000 miles use the 1100 has decided to balloon one of the front brake hoses

I already have a complete set of Goodrich braided hoses for the 1100 abs model and was intending to do it as a winter job That has now been bought forward

Anything in particular to look out for i,m a reasonably competent mechanic

Bloody lucky yesterday topped up at the local garage on the way to Poole Quay. Abs failed to reset front brakes started to bind up feel on the front brake lever went weird
Checked the hoses, hose had ballooned above front ball joint The way its been used recently for spirited riding I,m glad it didnt go at high speed
I looked skywards and uttered a thanks

SO GUYS GO CHECK THOSE HOSES

When you do the hoses DO NOT turn the ignition on as the system will register a fault.
i did mine a few years back when you change the hoses be sure to use new copper washers make sure the hoses are not going to chafe or be pinched by suspension or handlebar movement.
Pay particular attention to the first hose from the lever to the connection block and change them one at a time so you get the right hose in the right place bleed carefully at the calipers only and the ABS should not need bleeding.
BTW did i mention the ignition?:D

WOW. Lucky mate. It happened to me last year with the rear brake. that was easy to replace, fronts probably a little more difficult.

Thanks

Lucky or what ,just not meant to be part of the scenery just yet !

I was unlucky and had to bleed the ABS - might be worth reading up on it before you start - I wish I had.

Same happened to my old 1100, squeezed the front brake in the garage and the hose burst, spraying brake fluid everywhere.

I was just about to set off on a longish ride down the duel carriageway:eek:
