Anyone fitted a throttlemeister cruise control to a 02 gs.
How good is it,
easy to fit and set up,
hows it work,
how does it turn on and off,
can it be fitted with heated grips?
I've a vista cruise control on my other bike(blackbird)but fitting involves cutting the grip, not a good idea with heated grips.

Throttlemeister....

I have it fitted to my 1150RT....

Easy to fit, easy to use, works with heated grips......everything you need to know is here:

http://www.throttlemeister.com/tm.html

There is a special model for 1150GS with factory style handguards....

Dunno where you're going to buy it....they have a distributor somewhere in NL but they never answered my e-mails and then by coincidence someone on ADVrider had one for sale, brand new......

Call that a cruise control?

Surely all these little items do is stick the throttle open. That isn't my understanding of what a cruise control is meant to do.
I was expecting speed sensors and throttle servos at the very least, maybe even the distance sensing thing for following other vehicles. If its good enough for a Merc, then surely there must be a goldwing out there with two of them.

Yep Jimbo your right it just sticks the throttle open.
The vista thingy I've got fitted to my blackbird does the same but is a never be without one again once you've had one.

Does a goldwing really do as much as 80mph?

Getting the speed out of a 1500 or 1800cc 6 cylinder motor is not the problem - Getting it round corners is something else - something for the very, very brave or stupid:D

I find the Throttlemeister to be a pain in the ass with the hand guards installed. You can only wrap your little finger around it, and it is pretty slippery to turn/tighten with gloves on.

I've seen thumb actuated throttle locks that seem to work a lot better.

I got the Wunderlich cruise control given to me for my birthday a couple of years back. I don't think I would pay the £50+ for this otherwise, as I only use it now & again when on the m/way. Even then, I find that my speed means that I have to slow down then speed up again, regularly. Maybe I should slow down a bit and stick to the same speed..........Naaaaahhhhh!! I'm not old enough yet. ;) :D

I have noticed that the same type of gizmo comes up regularly on eBay.de

Here's one

But why would any motorcyclist want cruise cont ,youve got to be there up front you mite as well be resting your rite hand on the bars or do you want to do rite handed salutes to other mcn readers take my advice save money hold on to bars and wave at no fuker.or wave at 20 odd people before you get on ya bike

I've fitted the Wunderlich item to my 1100 and it works fine. The knurling makes it a bit easier to grip than the Throttlemeister thing. I find it useful for long runs on the motorway as it allows you to take the pressure off the right hand to get the circulation going a bit, and also stops me gettting too carried away (9 points down to 6 now).

Depends on the type of mileage you do really, but it works for me.
