Anyone had good results with pattern front brake discs?

Try to find some motomaster ones. They are the same thickness as OEM, and come with attached bobbins/rivets.

Motomaster is a brand from the Netherlands and well know in the motocross world. I believe they advertise as "made in the Netherlands"

Part number for their discs is 111073, at least for the 2006 GS it seems to be. https://www.moto-master.com/
Thanks for that. I can find the discs that look to be right on their website. Though I can't tell exactly what the thickness is of the part the bolts goes through, and I can't seem to find any price or means of ordering.

They don't sell directly, but if you search for that part number and their name i'm sure you'll find something.

Don't know the thickness of the bobbins, but the disc itself is 0.5mm thinner than the aftermarket brembo option. It is the same as the OEM thickness at 4.5mm

Through the link above you can find local distributors. As a disclaimer, I'm not affiliated or connected to this company in any way.

The OEM discs are 4.5mm thick.
But when I took mine off the machined part where the bobbins are fitted is thinner than the main part of the disc. It is machined out on the rear side.
I should have taken a photo 🤦🏻‍♂️
This allows the bolts to sit further away from the fork legs.
I had a chat in Wollaston's BMW yesterday when trying to find out what I need. He said the set up was different for a couple of years in the early history of the GSA.
I may just go OEM at this rate.
The discs will outlive the bike now. I've covered 162.000 miles on the last 2 sets of discs in the last 20 years 😜

I usually go oem BMW with most components, if possible and then you know it’s going to fit as you give them the chassis number
These quirks of manufacturing can be frustrating

It would appear I have the wrong discs for my 06 adventure with wire wheels. Bugger 🤦🏻‍♂️
I'll endeavour to find correct ones. If anyone requires a set of these plus bobbins but not bolts give me a shout.
Bolted on and removed, effectively brand new.

I felt somewhat responsible for this, so I checked the carpimoto website. According to the Brembo catalogue that is available on the product page, those are for the 2006 and 2007 R1200GS Adventure only; the correct ones for 2008 on are 168B407D6.
If you want to try to recover some of your losses, by selling them on, the Brembo catalogue lists the ones you bought as fitting :

Which once again doesn't make sense as mine is a 2006 adventure.
I'm tipping towards going back to Wollastons a buying from them.
I will be selling these on.

I had a reply from carpimoto,
They say there was plenty of information saying the discs don't fit the 07-08 GSA. I had seen this as I pointed out.
There list as above says they fit the 06 GSA hence me going ahead with the purchase.
It now appears they don't fit the 06 as well.
I have put them up for sale on this forum at the moment until they let me know if I can return them. I don't even know if it's possible to claim back the duty/ taxes I had to pay.
It's becoming too much hassle to try to save a few quid now so I'm going to just buy from BMW.
My brake pads are just about worn out. No time left.

This just gets better and better. Wollaston's are now saying the discs I require are coming up as discontinued.
They are trying their best to find some for me, but this is getting ridiculous now.
At this rate even though my discs are quite worn and at minimum thickness I may just have to fit my new pads to them until a solution can be found. 😳

Finally. Wollastons have sourced what I hope are the correct discs.
They turned up this morning. 😜
I shall nip in after work with my fingers crossed.
What an absolute palaver.
I'm still stuck with the pair of incorrect discs at the moment too. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Iffy parts made in China..?

My 1290 Superduke dropped a valve in '24.
I asked/assumed that very same question, valves made in China? The response 'er, no..USA.."

Not much help, but I would be treading carefully regardless with replacement parts. Genuine OE, Brembo only imo.

Have a look for galfer, I got a pair with bobbins for 200 quid , link somewhere in another thread.

They're the ones, not sure if that's where i got em though, I'll check when I get a moment.

For anyone who may be interested.
A few pics to show what my discs are like with a comparison with the ones supplied by carpimoto that don't fit.
This shows the machined out part on the rear and the fixed bobbins which allow the disc to sit closer to the wheel so the bolt heads miss the fork legs.
My discs are 4.5 mm thick and the carpimoto ones are 5mm thick but the part that the bolt goes through is considerably thinner with the fixed bobbins.
I'm quite surprised this has not cropped up before tbh.
Anyway I have the correct discs now. A job to do at the weekend. IMG20261103184742.jpgIMG20261103184833.jpgIMG20261103184756.jpg

The fixed ones are for earlier bikes. The ones with bobbins are for the later bikes, from the end of 2007 and the later twin cam etc.

And yet the ones I bought from carpimoto listed for my bike that don't fit aren't listed for the later bikes. See the fitment list a few posts earlier.
