Anyone had the balls to HIDify the 1100GS Touratech Twin Headlights?

I'm thinking........ From what I've read, the reflectors in those lights can't handle much more then a 35w bulb or they'll melt so to upgrade I've got two choices - CBR400 reflectors or H4-3 HID's.

Anyone gone the HID route?

There are/were two versions of the twin headlight. I think only for LHD vehicles, but I too had mine in Ireland before I sold it.
The better of the two versions was able to handle proper power bulbs.

But in any case was not much better than standard, but much better to look at.

BTW I cracked my lens riding over molls gap and found out that in fact its a one piece of glass affair which is pretty crap when you think about it.

Try the honda twin light setup, at least its two circles of glass.....

Pretty sure I've read in the past that this isn't (or wasn't at the time) possible as the HID burners were too big.. and protruded too far out the rear of the lamps.

but technology changes... so maybe this is possible now.

easier to leave the lamp as standard and fit a pair of spots.. which is what I did.

yeah I'm thinking it might just be too much trouble.

Might have a think about the CBR400 reflectors but that's a whole heap of arsing around too.

I must take mine apart to see which of the reflectors I've got. Plastic or metal.

My TT headlamps came with glass lenses/reflectors from some oriental machine, they were marked Stanley, there was not enough space in the headlamp shell to accommodate the HIDs I only rode it once in the dark with the TT unit, it was bloody dire, I have since gone back to the stock bus headlamp with an HID in it
