Does anyone know of a good link, website or pdf that explains in detail the workings of the DOHC Boxer twin engine?

Thanks for the pics, not quite what I'm after but do show things very nicely :thumb2

I wonder what the lifespan of that top chain guide / tensioner is?

I can't believe that tension isn't taken up with a pulley :nenau

if you can be more specific perhaps we could help you more,

mind you what else would you need after the previous excellent pics:clap

What I really want is a step by step guide how each part operates, and exactly what each part is. I know the fundamentals of how an engine works, but want to learn specifics and nitty gritty

what you need then is a book called the fundamentals of motor vehicle enginering by,i think, hillier and pitock.was my text book when i was at college,i think ive still got it in the loft actually.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. Would that have specific engines eg the DOHC boxer twin, or from that will I be able to apply the knowledge to know each part of the boxer twin purely by looking at pictures? From the pics above I already know what 95% of the parts are and do.

God - that book takes me back!

The answer to the questions are No and Yes.

The boxer engine, sohc or dohc is a simple one
