assuming these will fit the standard gs I’d rather wait for them than go for the vario or other 3rd party. Anyone have any intel on whether they will fit and when they might be out?

Is the Bike still due for release in Q4? If so, i'd imagine the luggage will be available when the Bike is released.

Looking at the available pictures i would say a definite no.

Do you mean you don’t think they will fit? Why would they make different fittings? My understanding is that all the previous GSA luggage was usable on standard GS, is that not the case?

They will surely find another money stream for the new owners.......new bike, new panniers and fixings......business is business !

By changing the pillion footpegs and adding the racks. Yes they were.

The one will probably be similar, in that you'd need to add the racks.

They gave all 1200 & 1250 GS models the ability to have luggage (Varios) fitted as standard regardless of spec. With the 1300 GS the ability to have luggage is now a cost option so who knows ?

It was a cost option on the 1200/1250, part of the touring pack with heated grips cruise control and TPMS if I remember rightly

But yes, on later models you could choose between pre equipment for plastic or metal panniers

That's news to me

I've never seen a 1200 or 1250 GS that didn't have the facility to fit Varios as standard
Me neither, but nobody orders a bog standard GS

Here’s my order form from late 2015

Option 681 is the pannier rails, included in the touring pack

They would probably have been standard on the TE spec in the UK at the time, we don’t get TE spec, just packs and other options

It's of no use in this instance comparing a European Spec market bike with a UK Spec variant regardless of the year. I've seen European Spec bikes that don't even come with handguards. Even a UK (Poverty Spec) GS came with handguards and (as far as I'm aware) the ability to fit Varios as standard

I guess it would be technically feasible (anything is possible) for BMW to offer a rack to attach to the GS for the GSA Panniers, but would they want to? Towards the end with the 1250GS and GSA, the two were coming closer together; with the 1300GS and GSA, I feel BMW are trying real hard to put as much blue water as possible between the 2 variants, and keep the target buyers apart.
But, after years of BMW Panniers, and now the 1300GS ones, I would not go along that route. My wee TT ones are great. I know TT make the BMW ones, but who designs them, and who just follows orders in the design process?
In fact, if I could not fit good Panniers to the 1300GSA, that would be a deal breaker for me.😱

Thanks for all the helpful answers (and yes I did look at the pictures ) That makes more sense now. My dealer seemed to think they would offer them as an option so fingers crossed.Would prefer top loaders but be nice to have the central locking. Maybe one of the other companies will come up with a version.

Why would it only be on one side doesn’t make sense
It appears to be a display bike for a particular event. May be set up to show the the two optional brackets, one with and one without. Or upon setting up the tech realized that's all they had (similar to my experiences getting my accessories over the summer}
I still have not received my engine protection bar trim plate for one side of the bike
