Looks like the mock German village, been there once during the last foot and mouth but have tried to find it since with no luck.... haven't got a waypoint have you?

We tried to get a little closer and suddenly realised we were surrounded by army bods in the bushes.

Spot on! It's on MoD land just off the A40 between Llandovery and Sennybridge. Follow the signs to Llywel along the smallest dual carriageway in the world, (maybe?), then follow the road over Mynydd Bwlch-y-Groes to Tirabad. Try and make a diversion after Tirabad to see Cynghordy Viaduct too :thumb

Oh, by the way, the road isn't open every day, usually Saturdays and Sundays only.

I am off to explore this area tomorrow. What sort of road surface is the road to Tirabad. Not marked on Mapsource so must be a private MOD road :nenau
:D

Been there

I've been there a few times as it's used as a Service Area during Car Rallies on the Epynt Ranges.
A mad place...
In fact, the Cambrian Trail Bike Rally has also run by it in the past.

I'd be suprised if it looked that nice up close.
This is one we came accross on the Plain.

Great riding around the Epynt !

Loads of bikes heading to Llandovery.. as usual... then nothing at all around the Epynt.. no bikes.. no cars... just the occasional soldier.

Well. all credit here should go to Longdog for starting this thread :clap :clap

Coordinates are:
MOD Entrance to Tirabad Road:
N51 57.454 W3 38.848

Viewpoint for the mock village in my previous post:
N52 01.651 W3 37.972

I set off at 06.30 GMT and rode through fog, heading north through the Brecon Beacons and arrived at this viewpoint N51 51.930 W3 33.893:

The views on the MOD road to Tirabad were very pleasant indeed:

After Tirabad, I headed East to a viewpoint N52 06.548 W3 30.939

I enjoyed the tranquility of todays route so much that I will repeat it again shortly... assuming the MOD road is open.

There you go... almost a ride report :mmmm

Are these MOD coordinates classified cos there is a helicopter hovvering above my house as I type this?
:D

Found it!

:thumb Went for a good run out today and found the village

Lots of people sorting things out for the rally in Brecon. :beerjug:

Ontheroadofftheroad... how did you get THAT close to the village. The entrance roads, which I would guess are 1/2 mile long are public prohibited and MOD only. Were you not risking being shot :nenau

:D
