Hi all,

I am wondering whether to fit some Roadmasters to my '03 Bonneville T100.

This is almost purely for cosmetic reasons :ymca - the existing Bridgestones are terrifying on damp roads and I think the Roadmasters look great on retro bikes.

But, are they any good in terms of grip / durability etc etc??

Any experience gratefully received.

No recent experience to be fair, but in my younger days I always remember them being refered to as DeathMasters!! Mainly for their abysmal wet weather performance.
That was nearly 30 years ago so they have probably improved since then:D I hope:eek:

better known as TT100s in the seventies (still marked as such on the sidewall). seemed to work ok at the time, and miles better than avon skid masters, but hardly at the pinnacle of tyre development now.

they look the part on meriden triumphs.

Can't be worse than the Bridgestones currently on the bike, I'm in danger of pulling an ar*e muscle from having my bum clenched in fear every time I approach a wet bend...! :D

The stuff on the web refers to them retaining the old pattern but using modern materials. Sounds good, but if I make a mistake, a Bonnie takes a long time to wear out its boots so I can change again. :nenau

don't know what bridgestones you have fitted, but the BT45s that myself and a lot of others favour fitting to classics are in a very different league to TT100s.

Have run tt100's for about 20 years on Tritons and a Commando. I have found them to be fine in the dry and adequate in the wet. I would say that they have improved with modern matierials.

Chucked the BT45's that I fitted to my 1100 Kat after 500 miles , they were absolutely dire , the rear would break away on acceleration and very worse in the wet. yet the previous BT35's were excellent
Pirelli Sport Demons were superb as were Continental TK11/TK12's , eventually changed the running gear and went over to radials

They're BT45R Battlax.

I see that the Triumph manual recommends F/R pressures of 32/38 solo, whereas Bridgestone themselves recommend 36/40 so I'll play around with that, it might make the difference.

Failing that I'll be looking at the other makes that have been recommended.

Thanks for the responses!
