Well my Roadstars are coming to an end and needing a refurbish. Went to my local bike shop and who have a good range of Daytonas (Dobles in Coulsdon) and tried on a pair of Travelstars. Now I didn't have my bike gear on so didn't get a good impression of them. One thing I did notice is that they have an elasticated gator around the top, which is meant to stop water running off your leather down your boots, which is what is happening with the Roadstars since moving from sportsbikes to GS's.

I was just wondering whether anybody is currently using the Travelstars and can offer an opinion. Even better if anybody can compare to the Roadstars.

Think I'm going to order from louis.de when I've finally found the Daytona boot I want - the prices seem v.good, even with delivery. I think the Travelstar works out at £200.

i've used the travelstars for about 18 months. 2 crashes no tears just scuffs. very comfy on big trips. good for short walks. 100% waterproof, ridden all year. i prefer the additional over the zip velcro flap. hot in the summer though.

Have you looked at the Trans Open GTX,maybe a bit to 'chunky' for what your after, but I have just got mine from FC- moto.de, a saving of about £80 over the uk rrp and only took a week from order to delivery.
After a couple of run outs their breaking in nicely now.

Bit off topic but I really need some help here. Today I came across the same german website with amazing prices for these by all accounts brilliant boots (FC- moto.de).

My problem is: In Nike trainers I require UK13/US14 - I do not know how that translates into European sizes - i.e. Daytona.

I am not exactly proud of this but I am looking for a Nottingham/East Midlands/Midlands retailer where I can try these boots on so I can find out what size I require.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Walter

That's a size 48. I just checked my own Daytonas which are a UK size 13 to confirm it.

Travelstars last 12 months. I too wondered how comfy that (what appears to be) elasticated band would be. Its actually the top of an inner boot skin which you don't notice at all whilst wearing them. Wear all day comfort from the off, classy quality and extremely waterproof (except when you have to rescue mates from Fords - Simon - and the water comes in over the top)

100% recommendation.

Thank you Bob, at last someone else with real feet!

If I cannot find any to try on I will take a chance and just order them from Germany. At first glance they are asking the same amount in Euros as UK retailers do in £'s here.

If they don't fit I can always flog them on EBay.

:)
