I’ve never needed it in 20yrs of Apple Products. Buy the Mac from John Lewis and they provide an extra years cover.

It’s worth it if you use it, it’s a waste of money if you don’t

I bought a new Mac and a new phone at the same time, apple care on the laptop but not the phone funny enough, only because I have in the past spilled beer on a laptop but never have a dropped a phone. Peace of mind I guess as they aint cheap and you can take it anywhere without fear of a break/loss. I'm happy with spending the money .

Never ever have I had any form of gadget insurance on any of my devices, unless it was included with my travel insurance.

If you are careful, I see no reason why you will need to.

Just keep it updated, the tech within will be good for the next 5-6 years, where after that, it will still work, but may not be updatable to latest operating software.

If you get a duff battery (expanding), then Apple should replace that at no cost on safety grounds.

Tad to late, as he already purchased it some 4-6 weeks ago, if I that event recall correctly.

I've used it for my MacBook air, one of the ports stopped working. Good service, they picked it up next day and sent it off to Poland to be fixed. It was fixed and returned very quickly, after I agreed to pay a small extra charge to sort out another component that was found duff due to beer ingression - oops.
