Having just got off the phone with a BMW salesman who couldnt give me a ballpark figure for a R1200GS 10K miles , 58 plate, all boxes , sargent seat etc. All the packs, ESA etc . Could anybody give me a rough indication of value as a trade in or selling private? Condition is good.
It is just a rough indication if your within £800 thats close enough!

Parkers website quote £5595 part ex for a 2008 '57' plate bike :eek:

Based on that £6000???

You could get £500 for your boxes and £200 for the seat privately without too much bother

If that price is right keep your bike!!

It may well be worth your while becoming a paid up member and posting in the for sale section, I do have a mate that's after a bike if yours is a good un? if your interested in a private sale email me on [email protected] he has cash waiting:thumb2

sell the seat separately. bmw won't give you any extra for it, and it's gotta be worth getting on for a couple of hundred quid.

Why don't you ring another dealer?

Or go test ride a Harley/Ducati and ask for a trade in price. nice hour out in the sun and valuation done!

I am looking for a sargent seat if you are willing to sell????

I got £7K for my 10,000 mile 08 plate GS against an £11,250 09 GSA at Christmas. GS was "basic" model with only comfort pack added plus SW Motech engine bars and a pair of OEM winglets, all other parts transferred to new bike. Jeffries in Shipley.

strip off all the extras - assuming you have the standard parts. Dealer prices are generally for standard bikes and they may even reduce the price if non-standard parts are fitted. The exception to this would be BM parts fitted at purchase - heated grips, computers, varios etc.

The additional bonus is that used BMW bits hold their value better than parts for other manufacturer's bikes - I would recommend becoming a subscriber to this website and offering them through the parts for sale section; it has always worked very well for me

Return the bike to original and sell the bits as you'll be offered the same trade in and an original bike sells better. Go for a test ride on other makes as there's real competition against the GS now and let the dealer know.

Try other dealers as they vary in what they offer and if you can, wait until the end of the month when they're chasing sales figures or even better at the end of the year when it's quiet.
Good luck

Thanks all i will put all original bits back on and take a few things out for a spin. Just wanted a rough idea so I know what I can afford. Thats been very helpful. Not in a rush to sell as the bikes still waiting for its new ESA rear shock week 5 and counting still no idea when one will be available.

Still interested in the sargent seats if you want to part with them ??

Did you px or sell bike?

Hi

what did you end up doing? I'm on the other side, looking for
bike and not wanting to pay the inflated dealer prices :-)

regards
