Well just got one and been riding it, my word very very good and a great price so come on then whats wrong with them ?

Good points for me compared to GS

good seat
Very good lights
better sitting position for arms
Not 100's anywhere I go
Good Value
Better weather protection

Known problems
Coils replaced already
Fuel Conectors replaced already

so the seems to be know major failures to look out for such as brake failure, shaft failure, fuel switches, imobiliser ect

come on ruin the joy I have !!!!!!!

spares back up from aprilia is appalling.
i ordered a indicator in dec 07 and gave up trying in late jan 08 and bought different type in the end.:(

Ok. Gutless bottom end, snatchy throttle response, grabby clutch (needs bleeding every few months) ugly, cheap build quality and the fact you'll always either want - or go back to a GS. :thumb2

Very underrated bike IMHO. Nearly bought one a couple of months back and it was only the fact I couldn`t guarentee work etc that I didn`t.

If it`s been looked after properly, you shouldn`t have too many problems and they sound awesome!!

Lot of bike for the money:thumb2

Well

Spares my friend is the European Aprilia Dealer of the year and has one of the biggest Aprilia spares department in UK

Big Lad

Bottom end pulls off with more urge than the GS everyone who has rideden it says so ?
Clutch a tiny bit graby
ugly well so far parked next to the GS more people look at it ?

Still got the GS

Quality again stop looking at the badges, it has more miles and is older than my GS and it looks fine ?

Sgt Bilco Well said

At least someone's bought something! Twas beginging to get a bit dull around here.
As Bilco says: a lot of bike for the money. Withour beemer 'cachet',
good value 2nd time around.
I like my GS as, for its size and mass, it's easy to manage.

Never ridden a varadero, but it felt top heavy sitting on it..
What's the Prilla like in this respect?

I have a 2003 CapoNord as well as my 1150GS.

The CapoNord is a faster bike, no two ways about it. The engine doesn't have either the bottom end or the engine braking of the GS, but does go like the clappers if you rev it (and it likes being revved).

Build quality isn't as good as the GS. The electrics in general and loom in particular have a number of Known Issues.

It is top heavy - and that tank is vulnerable. Damage that and it's Game Over.

Goodish on fuel but not fab like the GS - 37-45mpg depending on how hard you ride. Harder on the front end than the GS, they goes through front brake pads pretty quickly.

Mine has done 52k miles and has recently had a LOT of work done to get it into mechanically great condition. It looks a bit tattier than it should.

Aprilia parts are an absolute batsard to get hold of and Aprilia UK don't GAF. On the other hand there is a very active Capo forum and they are great at helping source things.

Mine (complete with luggage, WP suspension & loads of extras) is up for sale if you're interested :-)

good seat
I prefer the one on the GS

Very good lights
Aren't they? Best lights on a bike I know of, bar none.

better sitting position for arms
<shrug>

Not 100's anywhere I go
That's true, see very few of them

Better weather protection
I find the fairing very protective on the Capo but the screen directs bugs, rain etc directly at my visor :-(

Coils replaced already
Good. Doesn't mean they won't go again.

Fuel Conectors replaced already
Also good. Check the brown connectors, the reg/rec and all loom connections you can find. Clean the alternator connections very carefully - it doesn't have the power the GS one has. Fit a pro-oiler for the chain (Scottoilers are not recommended). Aprilia heated grips aren't the very hottest but they do incorporate the hazard flashers so that's a bonus.

You'll love it :-)

Had an 05 Capo, 18,000 miles in 12 months, dropped a tooth on the front sprocket, picks its head up quicker:D.
clutch slave cylinder upgrade reduces pressure at the bars by about 30%
Full luggage pack, the side cases stick out further than the bars,
satin tune pipes, sound great and save about 6KG
Added side bars and front bash plate.
Overall a great bike, as with all bikes it has its faults, stainless spokes but mild steel spoke nipples ( one winter and they rusted, even using ACF50 )
had the heated grip kit fitted, as mentioned earlier not as hot as beemer ones, they come with hazard lights as well ,mine had a mind of their own:confused:
Played with the screen but at 5`11" could not get it quite right ( have the same problem with my 07 GSA ) seem to get head buffeting.
I think I Still have a couple of screens knocking about in the garage.
Never had a problem with spares, used Southern Cross in Kilburn. V Good:thumb2

hey more positives than negatives !!!!!! hurrah thanks for the replies

The coils I think have been replaced with renault ones ?

I have heard of the brown wire connector block but havent checked yet will do asap.

the seat on my 12GS is truely appaling or perhaps im getting a boney arse as I get older !

It has heated grips but not Aprilia ones.

Im wondering if it has the smaller front sproket because it seems to take off fine another thing to check.

Why not scottoiler ?

On my second capo and such a good bike...and I've been places a GS rider would'nt go (sorry Bernard).....
