Has anyone got any constructive comments with regards to the ARAI Tour X helmets, I am hearing different reviews as to their performance. Any comments are welcomed. Cheers Dawg !!

Challenge Red Tour-X2

Outside: Nice styling, good ventilation.

Inside: Sh!te material, has fell to pieces on both cheeksides and at the back of the neck area.

Shoei DS Hornet looks a good alternative.

Timpo.

They're great in hot weather. But mine leaks around the visor in heavy rain and the peak gives me a serious headache if used for more than an hour or so on road. Removing the peak is an obvious solution that works.

My Fourpenuth
Looks Good
Comfy
Good when Hot
Crap in rain (Visor)
Buy good pair of ear plugs
Would i buy another ----------------------- Yeah probably

Tour x

Used a tour x on an Enfield to Cape town ride over four months, worked great got a bit smelly but washed up ok and still use it now, guess I've got an Arai shaped head then.

All down to personal choice.
first Arai I have owned.
Noisy. (Wear ear plugs)
Visor mists up if it is spitting in Belgium! (Fit Foggy respro and voila)
looks cool (IMO)
Fits perfect. (again IMO)
I am going to buy another this year. (Pin lock now so misting should be sorted)
Peak comes in handy if you haven't got dark visor on and the sun comes out.
Try one for size to see if it's comfy.

:) Not about the Tour X as inspite of trying several times I don't have an Arai shaped head....
I bought a Shoei Hornet DS instead.....
very similar to the TX but fits my noggin, first impressions are..
quieter than the AGV TiTech I've been wearing, light and airy
not been caught in the rain yet, but as it comes with a pinlock insert all should be well....
the only draw bakc, or not depending on your view point is the lack of colour choice..
Gloss BLACK
Matt BLACK
Gloss WHITE
Matt SILVER
Matt GREY and thats it....
all the usual removable linings etc, a decent draught curtain round the front and the peak doesn't vibrate or pull your head off at speed...
a worthy alternative to the TX if you fancy a look at them...

Noisy and not great when you try to look over your shoulder at motorway speeds.

I love mine because:

1. I have an Arai shaped head :thumb2

2. FWIW I buy into Arai's marketing about their investment in R&D, multiple shell sizes, race development etc. :nenau

3. I think it looks cool :o

4. I have no issues with the buffeting :nenau

5. I like the peak for keeping the sun out of my eyes and deflecting branches when green laning :thumb2

6. It's a quality product with great backup :beerjug:

7. It matched my old Twat suit :o

8. Euan & Charlie wore them so they must be good

I have today just got myself the Tour-X3,new for 2008,now I have only riden with it on for about 40 miles, as I only picked it up this morning, and I tell'ya, it's as quite as a quiet thing, slight vibration, but it comes and goes,I rode at about 70/85mph and the vibration was gone, when I got home I did find that the screws were a bit slack by about 3 turns,so that may have been why.

Not sure why this is in the 1200 section......maybe the 1150's can't afford a good lid...........:augie

:D .......joke, JOKE ok.....

Well my 2p's worth....

I lurve my lid, the fit and everything....one thingthat I do not like is this...

The peak when you are blatting on sweaping bends stops you from looking well into the bend. If you are used to not havng a peak then it can get in the way. On a plus side the peak stops the sun so it is more than a trade off...

IMHO the bst lid of it's type....:thumb

My lid.......

Dave you really need to try one on, mine is perfect for dry weather use and I happen to be the right height that when riding I don't get any vibes buffeting or drag when I look behind. On the down side ear plugs are a must and without pinlock or fog city they do mist up on cold days, ask yourself do you need one or do you just want one. There are more alternatives out there than there used to be so try a few dealers while you run your new bike in.

i agree!

i find that the lid is well ventilated, but noisy.
the visor is an excellent feature for when the sun is low (from what i can remember of seeing it....)

But i had a run on my mate's ducati 749, and needed a double jointed neck to see anything! Use it with an upright riding position....

Patrick.

Excellent Helmet had 3 now they get a Hard life when I do enduro Himalaya/India but are well made good in the heat and when low sun .you are either an Arai shaped head or not ,agrred at speed they are a neck wrench ,not too bad on my GSA12 but no good on my 990SM:eek:
