Just want to put in a plug for these guys; they have just repaired my GS, new clutch and gearbox output shaft and did a great job. 
They are an independent, although they have a Royal Enfield franchise. They are old school mechanics - Si and Nick have about 30 years experience and they have a young un called Tom there. They are proper mechanics, they can strip and mend stuff
When they had my bike in the workshop they rang Clarke's BMW at Rednal to discuss some parts and their response was "well when we have that problem we just put in a new gearbox at £1500" so their highly expensive labour charges are for fitters not guys who know how a motorcyles works.
So if you need work doing then give these guys some consideration as they are good and take a lot of care, I have no association with them other than I am a satisfied customer and believe that small enterprises like these deserve some recognition.
