I've bitten the bullet and got a newer twincam. Question I've got a nearly unused set of shocks before Ohlins where fitted to old bike. I'm going to sell them but would like to know if anyone asks do the old ones fit newer gs's?
Thanks for any help.

Bis the bike they where from was a gs1200 I've looked at Motorworks site and although they seem to be compatible the numbers don't seem to identical. Maybe some guy with an older bike will be interested. I just didn't want to sell anyone a pig in the proverbial.

Ah OK Are they WP or Showa make? I think you may be able to check using the part number from the label on the shock? Or post it up and I'll do some googling while I'm tied up

Bis that's kind of you well it's a WP 11 06.y901
Another number 7666 418 oh this is a rear shock.
If I don't get back to you this morning it's because my Linda has had problems since an operation and I'm carer off to get some Complan (whatever that is) forgot to mention on the coil spring is 130 200

The shock mounts are the same but after the 2011 Tsunami, the OEM units change from Showa to WP.
Plain shocks (Ohlins, Wilbers, OEM, etc) should physically fit any R1200GS (GS to GS or GSA to GSA). The issue should be unit lengths rather than actually fitting the bike.

WP and Showa ESA shocks are not compatible - different electronic systems.

What I can tell you is I had some Showa oem shocks from an '06 GS so it's likely that WP weren't fitted as oem after 2005 That's not to say that will differ in size from later Showa ones or whatever but the part numbers don't appear to help?

Thanks anyways guys. I'll presume the would be buyers would have a good idea if they are suitable for their bikes. They are in very good condition so they must be of use to someone.

At the rear post the length between mounting eye centres ("eye to eye" so to speak).

At the front post the length from base of top mount to centre of bottom eye.

Then folks can see how they measure up.

Good thinking Bendy I'm not going to ask silly money for them and I'll do that. I've had a look at a friends 2009 GS it's in a filthy state but the shocks look very similar as far as I can see.
