Looking for something to cut out the cat on my 2003 R1150GS.

Are all the Y pieces the same or are some brands better then others? Do O need one with a lambda sensor hole (or do they all have them)?

They should all have a hole for the lamda sensor. Not all Y Pieces are the same though – Vandalinde (spelling?) apparently make the best ones but are very rare indeed. Of the mainstream makes Remus make the most common one which is tried and tested. There are loads of Remus copies out there which will be just as good. There are also a load of cheap copies out there which are effectively T pieces – i.e. the gas flow is restricted. I picked up one of these in the past and it didn’t feel as smooth as a Remus.

IMO you are best of either buying a new Remus Y Piece or trying to track down a used example.

I have just put a Remus Y piece on my GSA with a Remus can and the midrange has much more ooomph. The engine feels smoother and more responsive. I could not believe how heavy the OE stuff is, good but built like a tank. There are some posts that I have read that state the removal of the cat and a can do not do that much, for me it was like a different bike.
