Are you a bit of a luggage expert?

Hi All,

My Aprillia scooter has a top box with Aprilia written on it. But I suppose Aprilia have them made by someone else and I suspected Givi.

Anyway, I wanted to get another top box mounting plate, so I could cobble that onto my BMW and then use, or leave, the top box on either bike.

But the Givi universal mounting plate I saw on Ebay was a slightly different fitting to the one on my Aprilia?

So, does anyone know what make of luggage Aprilia use? If it helps, Heres a piccie of the mounting plate. Note the long opening along the width of the rack and the lip on the base of the top box itself. Recognise this make of fitment anyone?

That looks like the same plate for the Monolock Givi systems, any of the E range, called a Universal Nylon Plate, hope this helps.

Why not just buy an aprilia one - and bolt that on ??

They wont sell me the plate seperately and I dont want another box. I rarely use luggage and if I dont want the box on the bike I can leave it on the other bike, which saves taking it indoors and cluttering up the place.

:)

Thanks. I'll check out a Givi agent or thier website. Everyone I have seen so far has had 2 lugs rather than a long opening. But this gives me something to go on.:)

Hmmm does have the feel of a Givi, but it's not like my monolock plate...mine has two prongthingies at the back that you push the back/bottom of the box over and onto , then tilt the front down onto a horn very similar looking to the one in that pic.

I'd take a piccy but I've got the Women's fitness championships on M&M right now and i'm somwhat distracted ;)

Givi has 2 case systems.
Monokey is their general one for motorcycles, and the one used on BM's. It has 2 moulded hooks at the front and a wedge shape piece for the lock.

The second is Monolock and is for scooters who want a lighter box as they can not take the heavy Givi cases. These have the solid piece protruding from the edge of the box which engages the length of the plate. They are sold seperatley quite cheaply.
This is what your photo looks like.
