Are you all still hiding

Poll

Even a slow speed tumble can cost plenty on a bike where the tank alone is going to set you back £500+ if you dent it.

There's no point in me taking part in something if I'm not going to enjoy it and just looking at those pictures leads me to suspect that I'm not up to that standard.[/QUOTE]

We should have a poll, the chances of damaging the tank are next to zero.at the speeds you(we) ride at !!! I have seen Nick Plumb dent his ADV tank (trying to keep up with me:D :augie ) but he did back somersault it:eek: ) Mind you Vern' don't tar Muttley with this brush.notice how quiet the rest of the west mids possee are:hide
yee haa:hug :monkeypiz :Motomartin :rose

put a new clutch in the 600, oiled all the cables, adjusted the brakes etc

2 kicks and it was away :thumb :thumb :thumb

it's in reserve incase my foots still a bit :ymca :ymca as it's only 124kg

hope I get the bloody cast off after all this

Rob

You are obviously unaware of how long fractured/broken bones take to heal properly....:nono Be careful Bobby!...:kissy2

I can't promise that I'll be able to keep up but I'm certainly up for coming along... if only to provide the entertainment :aidan

Count me in :thumb2

stu

no you are correct, I don't know
It was dislocated not broken luckily
I am able to put my weight on it now and walk on it , I can rotate the ankle in the cast a bit,
but didn,t you do yours ?
how long did it take ??

I had a badly dislocated shoulder, it took around 18 months and a couple of months of physio to get about 80% movement back...

I don't know how bad yours was, but once they come out of the socket, there's a good chance it may pop out again with very little effort. That's why I said, "be careful!"...:thumb

Don't be such a bunch of puffs. After my little vulture interface problem,I dislocated my shoulder and broke my collar bone(I didn't know about the broken bone for four days)I just layed up in a nice hotel for a couple of days to let it feel normal again, and then carried on.A nice ambulance man strapped my shoulder up a couple of days after that, and sent me on my way.

Robbie, the worst that can happen is that you can break it or dislocate it again,in which case,I promise not to larf too much:thumb

you're such a nice chap vern, it puts the rest to shame
as I said though, if the cast is off I'll be there, the choice of the bike will be the only variable
it will have been a month by then , so support bandage and mx boots ought to do it

Rob

I do ride it, and off road too, but I don't want to trash it and I know what I feel comfortable doing at the moment.

If / when I buy a trail bike I'd be happy to give those lanes a bash but I feel I only have one chance on the GS and if it gets away from me then it's going down. Even a slow speed tumble can cost plenty on a bike where the tank alone is going to set you back £500+ if you dent it.

still...it looks good as you ride past the shop windows,,,admiring your reflection, eh ?

Post your 'extreme' off road pictures then

THE DAKAR GOD HAS SPOKEN :D

Is there any point leaving them on :hide :Motomartin :D

No......................................:blast , because the only off roading Muttley does is fine on road tyres let alone Tourances.:hide

What a load of macho bollox you lot write :tosser

I'll ride where I want, when I want and with whom I want. I'll not give in to pressure to try things I don't like or don't feel comfortable doing.

If you are a macho off road god and feel happy riding your heavy bike on slippery surfaces with a leg just out of plaster and road tyres then :bow

If you don't care about the damage to your bike then :thumb

Have fun boys, I have nothing to prove

Here's a proper track for you Mutters
You can see the altitude on the gps 7856 feet :D
and i was riding 2 up :aidan
Now if i took you up this i would expect a moan way before we got this high :hide

Yes that is the top of a ski lift at the top of the track

mutters

if I do take the adv it will have tkcs on (and my lovely set of spare wheels)
if I don't feel that my leg is upto it then I will take the much lighter 600, the logic behind this being that if a gs can get up there then the 600 won't be a problem as the 600 is the bike that I do all my practice on
my leg was dislocated not broken and as to it being likely to happen again , have you ever worn tech 3s ? they don't bend very much
nothing macho about it, I strive to improve all aspects of my life by getting out of my comfort zone, most things with the right motivation and training are achievable.
what makes you or anyone else so special that you can't learn from others ?

if you don't want to go then just stop posting, you know what this lot are like

it's up to you when and where you ride your bike and I'm not going to tell you otherwise

Rob

what makes you or anyone else so special that you can't learn from others ?

An invitation was made and I, politely and with good reasons, declined. I have never said I can't learn from others, in fact quite the opposite. If you read other threads I have started about my off road exploits you will see my thanks to those organising the ride outs for their patience and guidance to a novice. In fact I believe that in this very thread I have suggested that others have more talent and experience than I.

If you look back through the thread I did stop posting. I was some what dismayed to return to the site and find that I was being flamed by my mates for choosing not to go on a ride out. Read back through the thread and put yourself in my position, see what you think of what you and others have written.

Everybody has a different learning style. If you choose to do so by getting out of your comfort zone then good for you. I don't choose to learn by belittling others and chest beating.

Gaz,

when I met you I thought you seemed a decent bloke, now I'm beginning to think you're a 'knowitall' with nothing else better to do than brag about your riding ability and how everybody else is inferior in the riding stakes to you! (apart from me of course...:D )

It's now getting pretty boring and frankly quite embarrassing (and Bobby, you aint far behind him either... ) give it up dude, you're starting to sound like a right cock...:thumb

Each to their own eh?

:rose Muttley, Look forward to seeing you this weekend. I'll look forward to buying you a beer:beer: I've just chuckled reading the thread....................:augie :roll :jibber :hug :hug and Alan it should now be closed............for now:D :D

ps, as for gary up at 7000 ft two up, i'll find one of my pic's with Sue on the back at 9826 ft.beat that:D :augie :augie :hide

Top of Pico Veleta with a rather nice spanish hotelier on the back.3352m which is about 10500ft(ish)

And I had far more important things to do besides taking pictures:bounce1

IT'S ONLY A BIT OF FUN BOYS DON'T TAKE THINGS SO SERIOUSLY :blast
If you want to come out Mutters you are more than welcome and if you don't want to ride all the tracks you can always meet the other end on the raod >>>Afterall it's all about enjoying yourself :thumb2
