A mate & I are doing an 8 day self-guided tour around Arizona this coming November. On hired Harleys, not GS's. I guess it has to be done just once!

The itinerary is:

Sedona - Grand Canyon
Grand Canyon - Page
Page - Zion National Park
Zion National Park - Las Vegas
Las Vegas - Kingman
Kingman - Sedona

or thereabouts.

What riding gear would you take/hire for such a trip in November?
Also anything that we should not miss (or even miss!)
Any other advice gladly taken.

Will try to post some pics on return.

Last year I had a similar itinerary but in a car :( I'd suggets doing the Grand Canyon as the last canyon as after you've seen it everything else is a bit "small". Really enjoyed Zion though. Try staying in the park lodges as that way you're up close and personal with the scenery and not in some motel on the outskirts of the town / park. Well worth having a flight over the GC, I did it in a Cessna from GC airport, lot cheaper than a helicopter ride and if it's early on in the day not too turbulent.

Have you thought of going to Moab? Lots of out door scene things going on. If I think of anything else Ill post it.

After driving through and around some of the other natural sites and canyons I wasn't as impressed with the Grand Canyon as you feel quite remote from it. We visited from the North Rim which only gets about 5% of the tourist traffic. Weather wise you should be prepared for snow dusting (I experienced snow in Kingman on an earlier trip in September).

Take a look at http://www.desertusa.com/ind1/du_peo_sin.html

You shouldn't miss Meteor Crater (near Flagstaff) and Grand Falls, even though it's often dry. To get to Grand Falls you have to ride on some rough tracks through the Indian Reservation.
