Armstrong..... history indeed..... goosh

Spent nearly 15 years working on the Rotax 4-stroke engine,one of the best engineered engines ever,except for the starter sprag clutch spring!
 
also heard of some strange operation where one had to sync the engine speed to clutch before engaging a gear.

was not a machine to go to war with i understand though i gather armstrogs made a showing in the gulf war. also saw on men and motors 'riding blind' the moto artillery team using them still.
 
Armstrong 350/500

The Armstrong 500 was a solid heavy single, and I used one in the Gulf during Op Granby (Gulf War 1).
The panniers could hold a 20Ltr jerry can in eack one.

They are still in service today, albeit, badged as a Harley Davidson and now 350cc with the most welcome kick start.

Would make an excellent winter hack.
